For now, you can press Save New Login again and use the arrow button to switch to Update Saved Login. However, for sure, this causes trouble when a site doesn't accept the password you've generated or any of the other bits of data you've entered. Therefore, the current flow is to handle it all before logging in. Two potential data loss issues can arise when we try to save the data after submitting it:ġPassword might not realize you meant to save that as a new item and not prompt youġPassword might not be able to save the data (maybe you haven't fully set up the extension yet, you don't have the Create new items permission on any of the vaults you've added, or it doesn't have an internet connection) Thank you for the feedback! Currently, 1Password X has you save your Logins just before you submit them because that greatly reduces the possibility of losing data. It just feels like the product isn’t designed at all for non-technical people. But I know if I set my mom up with 1Password, that’s getting lost and she won’t know where to find it when she gets a new phone. From a technical perspective, they make a ton of sense. On top of that, what about existing passwords? Most still aren’t using a password manager, so shouldn’t 1Password be promoting you to save new passwords? People absolutely won’t like the experience if the process for saving passwords is tedious. They’re going to end up with tons of duplicate passwords, with the wrong password, and no usernames. For most people, they’re not going to remember to do all of those things. And then after all of that is said and done, it doesn’t always save the username and or email correctly, so I have to remember to go and add it.

If you generate a bad password, save it, and generate a new one, you have to remember to change it to update instead of save a new one. This is the main reason I don’t recommend 1Password to people. When it doesn’t, you can fall back to password history. More often than not, promoting after logging in works. This is the thing I miss the most about Dashlane.
